Notice: Federal Government Shutdown Update

The Lafayette Housing Authority (LHA) recognizes that the ongoing federal government shutdown raises concerns for the thousands of families and landlords who rely on federal housing assistance programs. This includes participants in the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program and residents in Public Housing communities.

At this time, LHA expects to maintain near-normal operations throughout the initial period of the shutdown. The agency will continue processing and providing rental assistance payments and managing daily operations using funds already allocated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). LHA is closely monitoring developments from HUD and other federal partners and will take proactive measures to ensure continuity of services for the families and landlords we serve. The Authority remains committed to open communication and transparency during this period of uncertainty.

We understand that many families depend on their housing assistance to maintain stability, and landlords rely on timely housing assistance payments. LHA is dedicated to doing everything possible to minimize disruption and ensure that both households and property owners remain supported. Should the federal government shutdown continue for an extended period, any operational changes will be communicated promptly through our website, social media channels, and direct communication with participants and landlords.
