After a national search, Yvonda A. Bean partnered with the Housing Authority of the City of Lafayette, Louisiana in August of 2016, as its new Executive Director/CEO. Mrs. Bean oversees the day-to-day operations.
She boasts eighteen (18) years affordable housing experience, contributing to garnering in excess of $60 million in comprehensive rehabilitation and new construction funding for single family and multifamily housing initiatives, including the development of 11 HUD Section 202 units, 80 single-family homeownership units, 6 Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) developments, and 52 rehabbed units through either the Capital Fund, HOME, Housing Trust Fund (HTF), Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Federal Home Loan Bank programs or bank financing.
Additionally, Mrs. Bean’s track record reflects the successful administration of the United States Department of Housing & Urban Development’s (HUD) Low-Rent Public Housing, Capital Fund, Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV), Section 811 Housing for the Disabled, Section 202 Housing for the Elderly and HOME Programs, the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Summer Food Service Program, the Corporation for National and Community Service AmeriCorps (CNCS) VISTA Program, and the United States Department of Labor (DOL) Workforce Investment Act (WIA) programs. A few of her previous roles included but are not limited to: Executive Director, Preferred Properties in Toledo, Ohio; Director of Operations, Housing Authority of the City of Aiken, South Carolina; Director of Community Initiatives, South Carolina Department of Commerce, Columbia, South Carolina.
Mrs. Bean earned a Masters of Education with a concentration in Counseling & Psychology from Troy State University-Augusta in Augusta, GA and a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology from Augusta State University, Augusta, GA. She holds several nationally recognized certifications in the affordable housing industry, and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.
